County Litter Ordinance
With the passing of the county litter ordinance, Sheriff’s deputies can now write citations, issue warnings and make arrests regarding almost any litter, illegal dumping or public nuisance. This has especially helped in the illegal dumping problems at our recycling sites.
Deputies Greg Barnes and Mike Ault deal with environmental enforcement
Want to see the ordinance? Go to the library of ordinances and search on keyword "litter".
Littering is unlawful .. quoted from the ordinance " Violations of this article will constitute a second degree misdemeanor. Each day that the violation exists shall constitute a separate offense. Violations shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) and/or a sentence of not more than sixty (60) days."
A nationwide event sponsored by Keep America Beautiful. Santa Rosa holds this event, county wide, the third Saturday in April to coincide with Earth Day.

Adopt-A-Spot is another great way to participate in Clean-Up Santa Rosa. County roads, parks, recycling centers, or any other public area can be adopted by your group or organization as your area to keep clean. It's easy and you only need to clean the area 6 times a year.

First Saturday
This program is coordinated through crime watch groups and homeowners' associations. We work with them to coordinate their effort to clean their neighborhood in an organized and efficient manner. Santa Rosa Clean Community System provides bags, publicity (flyers, etc.) and a dumpster if needed. With the cooperation and support of the area residents we have been very successful with this effort. Examples are the American Farms in East Milton and Skyline in Milton.
Contact us for more information if your area needs our help.
Clunkers Clean-up
Through the cooperation of code enforcement and sheriff's officers and local junk dealers we can coordinate the removal of old junk cars, large appliance or other large heavy metal objects blighting your area.
